Nottingham Forest agree club record deal to sign Morgan Gibbs-White

Big spending Nottingham Forest are set to complete a club record deal after agreeing terms with Wolves for Morgan Gibbs-White.

A deal is worth an initial £35m but one which could be worth close to £45m if all the add-ons are met.

The 22-year-old had started the season back at Wolves having spent last season on-loan in the Championship with Sheffield United.

He had rejected Wolves’ offer of a new contract, but the club had insisted they would not sell and wanted to keep him, with his current contract due to run until 2024.

However, Forest returned with a huge offer that was just too good for Wolves to say no to, and also helps them recoup some of the £100m they themselves have paid out this summer – including for their own club record deal for Matheus Nunes.

GIbbs-White, who will become Forest’s record signing, is now due at the City Ground for a medical, with the club set to complete the deal in time for him to make his debut at Everton this weekend.

When Gibbs-White puts pen to paper he will become Forest’s 16th new signing of the summer. The player was always one of Steve Cooper’s main targets following their promotion to the Premier League.
